Introduction:

Production Process for Pipe Flange:
There are four different types of production process for pipe flange which are forging, casting, cutting and rolling. Forging flange contiains less carbon which allows a stronger anti-rust property. Compared with casting flange, forging flange has higher shear and tensile properties, good streamline, relatively compact organization, better mechanical properties. However, unproper forging process might lead to uneven apperance, solidification cracking phenomenon and higher production cost. While, the advantages for casting process is to allow more complex shape design with a relatively low cost. Cutting flange is a type of flange directly cut from steel plates which the maximum diameter is limited by the steel plates. Rolling flange is produced by rolled and welded by steel strips which is generally used for large diameter flanges. Overall, forging process is the wildely applied process for producing pipe flanges.

FLANGE STANDARD includes ASA / ANSI / ASME (USA), PN / DIN (European), BS10 (British / Australian), and JIS / KS (Japanese/Korean). In most cases, different flange standards are not interchangeable. For example, an ANSI/ASME flange can not be mate against a JIS flange. Pipe Flange Standard and Technical Data:

- ASTM A105 is the standard specification for carbon steel forgings for piping applications. This specification covers forged carbon steel piping components
for ambient and higher temperature service in pressure systems. Included are flanges, fittings, valves, and similar parts ordered either to dimensions specified
by purchaser or to dimensional standards.
- ASTM A182 is the standard specification for forged or rolled alloy and stainless steel pipe flanges, forged fittings, and valves and parts for high temperature
services. This specification covers forged low alloy and stainless steel piping components for use in poressure systems. Include are flanges, fittings, valves, and
similar parts to specified dimensions or to dimensional standards.
- ASTM A234 WPB is the standard specification for piping fittings of wrought carbon steel and alloy steel for moderate and high temperature service.

 

Pipe Flange Surface Processing:
- For Carbon Steel Flange, the surface can be electro galvanized, light oiled and black painted.
- For Stainless Steel Flange, the surface can apply color bleaching treatment, mirror-bright surface treatment and surface shading.

Pipe Flange Pakaging for transportation:
- Each flange should be stored and packed separately based on material types to avoid electrochemical effects.
- Use wood, straw or plastics to reduce unexpected damage from transportation.
- The wood cabin or wood tray should be dry to prevent rusting.

PIPE FLANGE is one kind of pipe fittings interconnected between the tube, pipe ends and pipe parts. Also, it is used for connecting devices, such as reducer flange. Flange connection is a detachable connection seal structure combined by flange, gaskets and bolts. Flanges are used in pairs. Low pressure pipe can use threaded flanges. Welding flanges are used when pressure higher than four kilograms. Different flange thickness has different pressures, and need to use different bolts. Flange has a good overall performance, so it is widely used in chemical, construction, water supply, drainage, oil, light and heavy industrial, refrigeration, sanitation, plumbing, fire, electricity, aerospace, shipbuilding and ohter infrastructure projects.

Welding Neck Flange
(WN)

Widely used for high pressure or temeprature flucturations pipeline or high/low temperature piping with

a nominal pressure less than 2.5 MPa. Also used for pipeline transporting with expensive, flammable, and
explosive media by a nominal PN 16 MPa. The Thickness of WN Flange: 12mm~58mm. The Outerside
Diametr of Bore Hole: 11mm~30mm. The Number of Bore Hole: 4~48. Threading: M10~M27.

Blind Flange

Blind Flange also called flange cover which is a type of flange without holes in the middle. It is used for
pipes sealed as plug. The production process can be divided into forging, casting, and cutting. The
types of sealing surface including flat, convex, concave convex, tongue, groove, and ring joint.

Socket Weld Flange
(SW)

Type of flange connect with welded steel pipe with bolts. It is commonly used in PN less than 10.0
MPa and DN less than 40 pipeline. The sealing surface type including raised face, uneven surface,
tongue and groove, ring joint face. The conection type including flange nuts and bolts. Socket Weld
Flange is widely used for boiler, pressure vessel, petroleu, chemical, shipbuilding etc.

Lapped Joint Flange

Lap Joint Flange also named Loose Flange. The flange is fastened at the pipe end by steel ring, so
the active flange is not in contact with the medium within the pipeline.

Slip-on Flange
(SO)

Slip-on Flange is applied for relatively low pressure flucturaltion, vibration and shock pipeline.The flange
welding assembly is easy. Only need to insert the pipe into the flange hole to the appropriate location,
and then take welding. Since it is widely applied, the price for slip on flange is relatively cheap.

Threaded Flange

Threaded Flange is processed the flange hole with pipe threading, so the flange and pipe can be
conect matching without welding. It is a type of non-welded flange. The installation and maintenance
is simple and easy. It is widely used in the non-welding situation. However, threaded flange is not allowed
to use when the pipeline temperature is unstable, lower than 45 degree, or higher than 260 degree.
